Campuses across the Emirates are a whirlwind of exams, field trips, and festive events as the academic term draws to a close ahead of a four-week holiday.

DUBAI: The final weeks of the UAE’s academic term are in full swing, with schools seamlessly transitioning between rigorous assessments and celebratory events before students depart for an extended winter recess. The break, which offers nearly four weeks off for international curriculum schools, is set to begin in earnest on December 8, 2025.

    A Symphony of Scheduling

The unified academic calendar, approved by the Ministry of Education, ensures a coordinated finish. The holiday period kicks off with National Day celebrations on December 2 and 3, leading into the full break from December 8 to January 4, 2026. The return to classes is slated for January 5.

This timeline has created a packed but exciting schedule for school communities. “It’s an active and dynamic time for the entire school community,” said Sheela Menon, Principal of Ambassador School in Dubai, where summative assessments and pre-board exams are currently underway alongside inter-school events and training sessions.

    Academics and Festivities in Harmony

The focus during this period is dual-pronged: ensuring academic closure while building school spirit.

    • For Senior Students: The atmosphere is academically intense for older pupils. Grades 10 and 12 are deep into pre-board examinations and practicals, a critical run-up to their final board exams.
    • For Younger Years: Meanwhile, younger students are enjoying the spoils of cooler weather. Schools are organizing field trips across the UAE, annual sports days, and festive concerts. Deepika Thapar Singh of Credence High School noted these activities are designed to “bring the school community together in celebration of talent, teamwork, and joy.”

Behind the scenes, administrators are managing this busy period with precision. Marah Kaddoura, Principal of Woodlem American School in Ajman, highlighted the reliance on “clear communication and a well-structured calendar” to balance curriculum goals, parent-teacher meetings, and National Day preparations.

As the term concludes, the extended break offers a well-earned respite, promising students and staff ample time to recharge before the new year begins.
