Dubai Holdings Entertainment unveils major expansion plans, including the Oasis Bay Waterpark and a transformed Riverland district, while Global Village will stay a seasonal fixture.

DUBAI: Get ready for a splash: Dubai is gearing up to open the “one-of-a-kind” Oasis Bay Waterpark, which will feature the largest pool in the region, a top executive has confirmed.

The highly-anticipated attraction, set within Dubai Parks and Resorts, is part of a wider strategy to supercharge the emirate’s offerings for families and tourists. While the exact opening date is yet to be revealed, officials say an announcement is imminent.

“We are focused on transforming the guest experience,” said Rami Mashini, VP of Sales at Dubai Holdings Entertainment (DHE), speaking at the World Travel Market in London. A key part of this transformation is the complete overhaul of the Riverland zone into a premier family entertainment centre.

Beyond the Waterpark: An Adventure Hub Emerges

Forget typical theme park fare; the new Riverland will offer an edgier mix of activities. The lineup is set to include axe-throwing, archery, go-karting, and immersive challenges like an escape room and ‘Perplexity City’. The district will also come alive at night with laser shows and host bazaars for local vendors.

Global Village: Why It Won’t Go Year-Round

Despite its massive success, DHE has no plans to operate Global Village throughout the year. Mashini explained that the seven-month model is crucial for maintenance and innovation.

“To keep it at its best, we need those months to enhance and develop the customer journey,” he stated, with the goal for the current season being to beat last year’s record of 10.5 million visitors.

    Catering to the Luxury Market

The announcement also highlighted a growing demand for high-end experiences. DHE is responding with new offerings like glamping at Dubai Parks and Resorts, a gold-tier butler tour in the Burj Al Arab, and planned space camp and desert safari experiences, broadening its appeal to the luxury segment.
