UAE-based content creators defeat international DJs 8-5 in a friendly yet competitive showdown at Ibn Battuta, blending music, sport, and digital culture.

DUBAI – In a vibrant crossover of music, sport, and digital culture, UAE-based content creators emerged victorious over a team of international DJs in a friendly football match organized by Red Bull UAE last Friday.

The high-energy encounter, held at Precision Football in Ibn Battuta, ended 8-5 in favour of the local creators, capping an event designed to build community and celebrate Dubai’s dynamic lifestyle scene ahead of a weekend of entertainment.

The DJ lineup featured Haitian star Francis Mercier, who was in Dubai for a performance at Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour. Eager to swap decks for boots, Mercier highlighted his lifelong passion for the game. “I really love to play football,” he said before kickoff. “Red Bull was open to it, and there were some cool creators from the UAE who wanted to play. So we thought, let’s do something fun before the show.”

Mercier, who grew up idolizing Brazilian legends such as Ronaldo and Cafu, described football as more than a hobby—it’s part of his fitness regimen and a source of creative energy.

Facing him was Ramy Hamdan, a Dubai-based travel content creator with a background in club football during his teens in Lebanon. “I used to play with my team before; we have chemistry,” Hamdan said, opting for an attacking role on the day. “Today I want to play left wing, striker. I want to score.”

Though Mercier confidently predicted a DJ victory pre-match, it was Hamdan’s side that found greater cohesion on the pitch. Both men scored during the lively fixture, but the creators’ team maintained the upper hand throughout.

The initiative underscored Red Bull’s focus on blending sports with entertainment and spotlighting Dubai as a nexus where global artists and regional talent connect. As Mercier noted, the city offers “energy and opportunity”—with football serving as a universal language.

The match provided a spirited prelude to Mercier’s scheduled set at Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour, reinforcing the synergy between physical activity and nightlife in the Emirates’ event calendar.
