Elon Musk’s satellite internet service lands in the Emirates, offering high-speed roaming and home packages with hardware priced at Dh1,099.

UAE – In a major development for the tech and telecom sector, Starlink, the satellite internet constellation operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has officially launched its services in the UAE.

The company is now accepting orders from residents, offering a variety of plans designed to cater to both digital nomads and households seeking reliable, high-speed connectivity.

    Breaking Down the Costs
According to the official Starlink website, the entry point for the service is its Roaming Plan, which starts at Dh190 per month. This package provides users with 100GB of data, allowing them to maintain connectivity while traveling within the country.

For those requiring heavier data usage, Starlink offers:

    • Unlimited Roaming Data: Priced at Dh370 per month.
    • Residential Lite (Home Internet): Priced at Dh230 per month for unlimited standard data.
    • Residential (High-Speed Home Internet): Priced at Dh300 per month for unlimited data at maximum available speeds.

In addition to the monthly subscription, new users must purchase the Starlink hardware kit, which includes the satellite dish and Wi-Fi router, for a one-time fee of Dh1,099.

    Why Starlink?
Unlike traditional internet that relies on ground cables and cell towers, Starlink utilizes a constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. This proximity to Earth drastically reduces latency (lag), making it suitable for real-time applications like video conferencing, high-definition streaming, and competitive online gaming.

The company touts a 99.9% uptime guarantee for its residential customers and emphasizes that the service is built to be weather-resilient, ensuring stable connections even in adverse conditions.

    Global and Regional Reach
As of March 2026, Starlink’s coverage has expanded to over 150 countries across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. In the Gulf region, the UAE joins a growing list of GCC countries where the service is active, including Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Yemen.
