In a rain-soaked thriller at Sentosa, the American captured his fourth LIV Golf win after Richard T. Lee missed a two-foot putt on the first sudden-death hole, as 4Aces GC claimed another team victory.
SINGAPORE – Bryson DeChambeau claimed the LIV Golf Singapore title in the most dramatic fashion possible on Sunday, winning a sudden-death playoff after Richard T. Lee suffered a devastating miss from two feet out at Sentosa Golf Club.
The victory, DeChambeau’s fourth individual title on the LIV circuit, was sealed in circumstances the American admitted he “never wants to win that way,” as a week of fierce competition was decided by a moment of high tension in the tropical rain.
“The emotions are overwhelming right now,” DeChambeau said. “Good emotion, struggling emotion, just everything that you could possibly imagine, it’s there. But a lot of joy.”
A Playoff for the Ages
The final round was a grueling affair, halted twice by torrential rain. Lee, the league’s first Canadian player and a Wild Card entry, posted a five-under 66 to set the clubhouse target at 10-under. DeChambeau, applying pressure in the final group, birdied the par-5 18th to force a playoff at 14-under.
The 18th was replayed for the sudden-death showdown:
- DeChambeau’s tee shot found the water hazard down the left.
- Lee hit a fairway bunker but laid up, then stuck his approach to within 10 feet of the pin.
- DeChambeau’s third shot landed just off the green.
- With the door open, Lee’s short par putt slid past the cup, handing the win to DeChambeau.
“You never want to win that way – I’ll be the first to admit that,” DeChambeau said. “Golf is a fickle and uneasy game at a lot of moments. I just didn’t like seeing it happen.”
Lee, who was chasing the best-ever finish by a LIV Wild Card, took the defeat with grace. “It was a short putt, and I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard. I think the adrenaline was pumping,” Lee reflected. “I felt like I had it this week. I played really well. Hopefully, next week I can try again.”
4Aces Dominate Team Event
While the individual trophy went to DeChambeau, the team prize returned to the familiar hands of Dustin Johnson. The 4Aces GC captain led his revamped 2026 lineup—Thomas Pieters, Thomas Detry, and Anthony Kim—to their second consecutive team victory in Asia, following their win in Hong Kong.
“Obviously, the league gets better every single year. It gets harder to win,” Johnson said. “You’ve got to have four really good players if you want to have a chance to win. Right now, I feel like we do.”
Notable Finishes
- Lee Westwood, returning from a wrist injury, made his first final-group appearance of the season, shooting a 69 to secure solo third.
- Joaquin Niemann, the leader before the final rain delay, faded to fourth after three post-delay bogeys.
- Jon Rahm rounded out the top five for Legion XIII.
DeChambeau, despite the victory, was keen to praise the man who pushed him to the limit. “As much as winning is great, I have a lot of respect for Richard and the way he golfs his ball out there,” he said. “He’s a real superstar, and the league should be really proud to have him as a Wild Card.”
