Foreign Ministry calls for protection of diplomatic missions and reiterates commitment to peaceful dialogue amid ongoing Ukraine conflict.
The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong call for the protection of diplomatic premises following damage to the Qatar embassy in Kyiv during recent shelling of the Ukrainian capital.
In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized “the need to protect civilian and diplomatic buildings and the headquarters of embassy staff in accordance with international norms and conventions regulating diplomatic work.” The appeal came after images showed structural damage to the Qatari diplomatic mission, struck during a reported air attack on the city.
Reaffirming its role as a proponent of diplomatic solutions, the statement highlighted the UAE’s continued commitment to seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. The Ministry stressed its support for “diplomacy, dialogue and de-escalation,” pointing to the worsening humanitarian conditions and persistent civilian suffering as urgent reasons for renewed peace efforts.
The UAE’s response underscores its consistent diplomatic stance on upholding international law regarding the inviolability of diplomatic missions while advocating for dialogue to end hostilities.
