Emergency services rushed to Huntingdon station after reports of a mass stabbing on a Doncaster-to-London service, with nine victims reportedly sustaining life-threatening injuries.

HUNTINGDON, UK – Two individuals are in police custody following a violent knife attack aboard a crowded intercity train Saturday evening that left ten people wounded, including nine with potentially fatal injuries, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred on a London North Eastern Railway service approaching Huntingdon station, approximately 70 miles north of London, prompting a massive deployment of armed police and medical personnel just after 7:40 PM local time.

    Emergency Response Mobilized to Station

British Transport Police confirmed they were supporting “multiple patients” after what witnesses described as a chaotic scene aboard the train. The East of England Ambulance Service deployed a significant response including air ambulances, multiple ground ambulances, and tactical commanders to the rural Cambridgeshire station.

“The train has been declared a crime scene and remains at Huntingdon station while our investigation continues,” a police spokesperson stated, adding that counter-terrorism specialists were assisting with the preliminary investigation.

    Witnesses Describe Panic and Violence

Passengers reported terrifying scenes as the attack unfolded. “There was blood everywhere,” one witness told The Times, describing how people hid in bathrooms and others were trampled in the rush to escape. Another witness told Sky News they saw a man with a large knife on the platform before police subdued him with a Taser.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer addressed the attack via social media, calling it “appalling” and expressing sympathy for those affected. The incident comes amid ongoing government efforts to address knife crime, which authorities have described as a persistent national challenge.

All rail services through Huntingdon remain suspended as the investigation continues.
