Abu Dhabi: Minor Damage Near Kezad After Missile Interception, No Casualties

UAE air defences successfully engage projectiles; officials warn against rumours as regional tensions persist

ABU DHABI – Authorities in Abu Dhabi have confirmed minor damage near the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (Kezad) following the successful interception of a missile by the UAE’s air defence systems. No injuries were reported.

In a statement released in the early hours of Thursday, the UAE Ministry of Defence said its forces had responded to missile and drone threats, actively engaging multiple projectiles. The ministry did not specify the origin of the threats.

Ministry of Defence: “UAE air defences… are actively engaging with missiles and UAV threats.”

Officials urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumours or unverified reports.

The incident comes amid heightened regional volatility. Since the outbreak of the Middle East conflict at the end of February, the UAE and other Gulf nations have faced repeated missile and drone strikes attributed to Tehran. Iran has framed these attacks as retaliation for ongoing US-Israeli military operations in the region.

On Wednesday, the UAE reported the death of a Bangladeshi worker in Fujairah and the injury of an Indian national near a facility in the Umm Al Thuoob Industrial Area. Both casualties were caused by shrapnel following missile and drone interceptions by Emirati air defence systems.
