Bloomberg Report Suggests Apple Shifts Color Strategy After Success of ‘Cosmic Orange’

SHARJAH — Apple may be preparing to shake up its design palette for its most premium devices. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could debut in a vibrant “deep red” finish, signaling a potential shift in the company’s long-standing color philosophy.

Historically, Apple has reserved its bolder, more expressive colors for the standard iPhone models, while the Pro lineup has typically featured muted, professional finishes such as graphite, silver, and various titanium tones. However, the report suggests that the unexpected popularity of the “Cosmic Orange” iPhone 17 Pro Max—particularly in the Chinese market—is prompting Apple to reconsider.

Citing sources, Bloomberg claims Apple is currently testing a deep red hue for the 2026 Pro models. The company is also expected to retain the orange option introduced with the previous generation. While there has been speculation regarding purple or brown alternatives, the report indicates these may simply be variations of the red shade currently under internal evaluation.

    What About the iPhone Fold?

While the Pro models are set to embrace color, the highly anticipated iPhone Fold is expected to take a more conservative path. According to the report, Apple’s first foldable device will launch in classic, understated finishes: black (or dark grey) and white (or light silver). This aligns with previous rumors suggesting Apple aims for a premium, sophisticated aesthetic for its entry into the foldable market.

Industry insiders suggest the foldable iPhone is on track to be unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, potentially setting the stage for a landmark product launch event this September.
