Interior Ministry seizes weapons, drones, and encrypted devices; plot aimed to ‘destabilize national security,’ authorities say.

KUWAIT CITY – Kuwaiti authorities announced on Tuesday the dismantling of a terrorist cell with direct ties to Hezbollah, arresting 16 suspects accused of plotting to undermine the nation’s stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the group comprised 14 Kuwaiti citizens and two Lebanese nationals. The cell was allegedly organizing a plot to “target the sovereignty of the country, destabilize its stability, and spread chaos,” posing what officials described as a direct threat to national security and public order.

    Weapons Cache and Evidence Seized
Following intensive investigations, security forces raided the group’s locations and confiscated a significant arsenal. The seized items included:

    • Firearms and ammunition, including an assassination-grade weapon.
    • Encrypted communication devices, including Morse-code equipment.
    • Drones.
    • Flags and imagery associated with terrorist organizations.
    • Maps, narcotic substances, and undisclosed financial sums.

The ministry emphasized that investigations are ongoing. All suspects are being referred to the Public Prosecution as security agencies widen their net to identify any additional individuals linked to the cell.

    A ‘Red Line’ on Sovereignty
The Ministry of Interior issued a stark warning to the public, declaring that Kuwait’s security and sovereignty are a “red line that cannot be violated.” The statement stressed that any collaboration with external terrorist entities, or the provision of financial or moral support to such groups, will be met with “strict and decisive measures.”

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing all parties involved in acts that threaten the country’s security, vowing zero tolerance for any attempts to disrupt public order or endanger the state’s capabilities.
