General Civil Aviation Authority urges passengers to contact airlines as safety measures take effect following security assessment.

DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates announced the temporary and full closure of its airspace in the early hours of Tuesday, citing rapidly evolving regional security developments.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed the measure, describing it as an “exceptional precautionary step” designed to ensure the safety of flights and air crews while safeguarding national territory.

In an official statement, the authority said the decision followed a comprehensive assessment of security and operational risks, conducted in full coordination with relevant national and international bodies. The GCAA emphasized that airspace safety and the protection of the UAE’s sovereignty remain absolute priorities.

    Passenger Guidance and Airline Coordination
The GCAA urged all passengers to contact their respective airlines directly for the latest updates regarding flight schedules. It confirmed that accommodation and necessary assistance will be provided to affected travelers by the airlines, in coordination with local authorities.

The authority stressed that the safety of passengers and flight crews remains its top priority, reaffirming its commitment to implementing all necessary measures to ensure the highest standards of safety.

Officials stated they will continue to keep relevant authorities and the public informed of any further developments. The GCAA also expressed appreciation for public cooperation and understanding during these exceptional circumstances, calling on everyone to obtain information exclusively from official sources.
