Dr. Azad Moopen, founder and chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, has been ranked among India’s top five cash-rich promoters in FY25, earning a dividend income of Rs 25.94 billion.

He is the only entrepreneur from Kerala on the elite list, alongside industrial heavyweights like Mukesh Ambani, Anil Agarwal, and Azim Premji.

Aster DM Healthcare declared a special dividend of Rs118 per share, a final dividend of Rs2 per share, and an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share in FY25.

With a 42 per cent promoter stake, the company’s financial performance underscores its strong fundamentals and strategic growth.

Aster’s recent merger with Quality Care India Ltd., backed by Blackstone, has created one of India’s top three hospital networks — Aster DM Quality Care Ltd — with 38 hospitals and over 10,300 beds across 27 cities.

From a single clinic in Dubai in 1987, Dr. Moopen has built a global network of over 900 facilities and 34,000 employees across seven countries.

He also established Kerala’s first medical college in a tribal district and founded Aster Volunteers, one of the world’s largest medical volunteer networks with over 85,000 members.

Honoured with the Padma Shri and Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, Dr. Moopen continues to drive impact-led healthcare expansion. His rise reflects a rare blend of financial acumen and social commitment, proving that sustainable entrepreneurship can create both value and lasting change.
